M-DUINO suitable for real industrial projects?

Hello,

we are a greentech startup based in Germany. We are currently looking for a new platform for our monitoring and control projects. Industrial Shields seems to fulfill most of our requirements, but we can not find any  references to real projects in known factories.

We need to offer a proven hardware/software solution to tens of customers with high stability for both monitoring and control. Our systems don´t require high frequencies since we work with slow themal systems, but the solution needs to be robust in industrial environments with ambient temperatures going up to 40 centigrades.

my question(s):

- has the PLC (especially the ethernet PLC) been used in an industrial contexte? if yes, where?

- do the case studies on this homepage refer to implemented projects?

- and since we are using I2C with 15 sensors and 2 analog controlled motors, are there any good/bad experiences with I2C among the forum community?

Hi Ben,

Did you end up using any of the products by Industrial Shields? 

I ask because I am trying to implement a M-Duino into our next generation of products and I want to see if you ran into any issues at all.

For sure Industrial Shields devices have been designed to be used in industrial environments. In fact, the devices have been tested in external certified labs (APPLUS from SPAIN) which tested the devices under the Standard required in terms of Safety, EMC, Temperature, etc. Our PLCs can run from 0 to 60ºC. (The standard define from 0 to 40ºC as a temperature range but we understand that most of the installations need higher temperature so we increased the temperature range to avoid the need to use external fans.

The PLCs have been used for thousands of customers in different industrial environments. We understand that you can not use an individual Arduino board on Industrial environments because the standard required for an embedded board is different than the standard required for our devices. All our devices are CE compliance and some of them have also been certified as ETL by Intertek (it is another NTRL standard similar to UL certificate). In fact, ETL also certify our quality standards in terms of product, production system, traceability, etc

Cases studies are based on real projects implemented by customers but because of the LOPD, we are not able to share the information from them.

I2C is a standard protocol ready to use inside a device, to connect some PCBs between them or for short distance devices. We don't recommend using it as standard in industrial applications because there is some noise there which affects communication. Anyway, if your project requires using I2C take a look on the user manual of our devices because we recommend using meshed crosed wires.
